RobynLibdy: I am unable to download the fraction lessons. I am not impressed with the starboard software. I am forced to adapt to this software because the school has purchased the software and equipment in the classrooms. This software is limited with interactive lessons and resource utilities. Now I need to present a professional development to teachers and I am unable to attain the lessons to demonstrate examples to teachers. I am frustrated and disappointed.

Can anybody give me a strengths and weaknesses of the Hitachi? I'm familiar with Promethean, keen on Smartboard but less keen on a US product and like the looks of the Hitachi.

Promethean and Smartboard have a wealth of accessible resources and lessons. Is this the same for the starboard?

How good and how plentiful are they for Maths and English K-12 in particular.

Smartboard comes with Notebook software suite of lessons ..... Is there a comparable offering with the Starboard?

Keen to get ..
[Read all]

George Tsaousidis: Hi MLR

The StarBoard is a versatile, reliable product made in Japan that offers multi-touch and gesture support, requires only a USB port to operate, board surface is sensor-independent - therefore if it gets damaged by a student it will still operate, it can be used with either a Pen or Finger (or any pointing object!), is servicable on site (if anything goes wrong), can be used as a normal whiteboard (subject to conditions), has full compatibility between both Windows and Mac platforms (StarBoard Software 9 series), and many more benefits.

It is also bundled with education-leading software "EasiTeach Next generation" and a bundle of other resources from Hitachi Solutions, Hitachi Cambridge, and iLearn Maths Toolbox software, and we have a range of lessons which continue to grow in our StarBoard community. We also have an education specialist who actually makes lessons suited to Australian education requirements, which is more effective rather than using overseas resources that may not fit into the local education market.

The board can also be bundled with our industry-leading ultra-short throw projector range, such as the A3, CP-A100 / CP-A52), or CP-AW250N.

New Lesson: Magnetic letters and words

The English language is complex, but the simple foundations are based upon the premise of sound/letter knowledge and letter/word recognition. To become more proficient and confident, one needs to manipulate such to gain a better grasp of literacy and language composition. In the Early Years, this begins with letters, alphabetical order and common words inserted into meaningful contexts, whilst including rhythm and rhyme to add a component of fun.

gianni: It's really good also for Italian language.

New Lesson: Fractured Fairytales

The Inquiry Learning focus of Fairytales is full of rich learning possibilities in the classroom. The concepts of catergorisation eg. good vs evil, ordering of events and the relationship between morals and values is just a starting point. Enjoy exploring how to further these concepts in the Junior School classroom in an enjoyable way. National Curriculum: (English) • they will learn to listen to, read, view, speak, write, create and reflect on increasingly complex and sophisticated spoken, written and multimodal texts across a growing range of contexts with accuracy, fluency and purpose • they will appreciate, enjoy and use the English language in all its variations and develop a sense of its richness and power to evoke feelings, convey information, form ideas, facilitate interaction with others, entertain, persuade and argue

Michael 2: Dear Donna1, we have reports from some users that when using the older IE that it saves under a different file name (ie .zip). The simplest method is to save it to a .yar file. The files posted are .yar files.

The other method is to uprade to the latest IE browser or use laest Firefox browser.

Hi

Is it possible to turn the Starboard off, so that when it is not in use as a "Starboard" and people walk past the board, it does not register as tracking and clicking of buttons, which is causing multiple screens to open.
Thanks
Bron

Michael 2: Dear Bron, unfortunately there is no button on the board to disable the touch device. If hardware cannot be accessed easily then I think option (2) would be an ideal solution - by disable the device in Device Manager.
Thanks

Michael 2: Dear Bron, one of our BDM suggest that it would be also easier if you can press the Pen button on the icon of the side board. This will enable Pen mode and touch mode is disabled. Hope this helps.
