- The English language is complex, but the simple foundations are based upon the premise of sound/letter knowledge and letter/word recognition. To become more proficient and confident, one needs to manipulate such to gain a better grasp of literacy and language composition. In the Early Years, this begins with letters, alphabetical order and common words inserted into meaningful contexts, whilst including rhythm and rhyme to add a component of fun.
